Mayor Hurley has welcomed the announcement by An Taoiseach this morning that the Cork -Limerick M20 motorway has now gone to planning stage. Commenting on the confirmation given by Taoiseach Varadkar that the Cork -Limerick M20 motorway will also be included in the Government's Strategic Infrastructure Plan, Mayor Hurley said,

“I am delighted to learn of this important announcement.  The plan will see €20 million committed to the scheme, which will now go through a phase of planning and design before construction commences, with a 2 to 3 year time frame.  The M20 motorway between Cork and Limerick will provide connectivity and enable the realisation of a number of opportunities for social, economic and tourism growth between both cities."

The Mayor went on to say, “Today’s commitment to the much awaited M20 signifies the recognition from the government to maximise the unique capacity of Cork to complement Dublin.”
