Social Housing Scheme Fermoy

County Mayor Congratulates’ all responsible for “Tur Liath”, a social housing scheme in Fermoy that has been shortlisted for a national housing award.

The Cork County Council social housing scheme in Oliver Plunkett Hill, Fermoy has been shortlisted in the Irish Council for Social Housing (ICSH) Community Housing Awards 2017 in the category Housing for Families.

The scheme is the first in a number of Council built construction projects which will be delivered over the coming years. The Mayor has congratulated Cork County Council’s Housing Department, the Council’s Architects Department and MMD Construction on the completion and occupation of the €1.6m project he said

 “Tur Liath is the first of many innovative housing schemes that Cork County Council is making available to the people of Cork County.  This is indicative of the great progress being made in the delivery of high quality housing, in requested areas, to the highest of design standards that residents can call home and enjoy the benefits there of.” 

He went to say

“Housing for Families that’s what this is about this formerly abandoned area now offers people a variety of housing types each with high standards of design, evident in the fact it has been shortlisted for this prestigious award. The distinctive front facade and environmental performance through high energy efficiency technologies are what sets it apart and what will make it comfortable and affordable for the families that have taken up residents."

“The Council’s own housing and architects department needs to be congratulated here for an outstanding Job in producing designs to meet today’s family needs.”
