Passage West Creates at Christmas

Supported by Cork County Council, the shop offers a range of locally produced art and craftwork, “Passage West Creates” takes pride in affordable and local products described as sustainable, organic, and ethical.

During a recent visit, Mayor of the County of Cork, Cllr. Mary Linehan Foley complimented the artists on the range of products on offer,

“It is great to see a number of arts collectives trading across the County, showcasing the rich and diverse talent that exists in our communities. Without unique outlets such as “Passage West Creates”, it would be difficult for local artists to have a physical presence in our communities. I encourage everyone to look out for local arts and crafts markets such as this in their area and make a special effort this year to buy local for Christmas.” 

Chief Executive of Cork County Council, Tim Lucey, noted the importance of the arts and the need to support small business this festive season,

“Through our A Real Cork Christmas campaign, Cork County Council is encouraging everyone to ‘Shop Local’ for Christmas 2020, to stay safe and to discover the unique and varied businesses on your doorstep. Initiatives such as “Passage West Creates” presents an opportunity to highlight the many talented craftspeople in our communities. We can all help our towns and villages by choosing to support local and buy locally produced goods, art and craftwork.”

Assumpta Lydon is a quilter and founding member of the “Passage West Creates” initiative,

“Passage West Creates has been operating as something of a social enterprise in the town since 2018.  People enjoy the local connection and social element as much as what is on offer in the shop.”

“Passage West Creates” is open in the run up to Christmas, Monday to Saturday from 10am to 5.30pm, and Sundays from 11am-3pm. Further information can be found on the group’s Facebook page.
