Significant Funding Awarded for Town Regeneration Projects in County Cork

Cork County Council has been granted over €17.9 million in funding in respect of 3 rural regeneration projects in the towns of Bandon, Charleville and Macroom. The money will be used to rejuvenate the town centres, combat dereliction and drive economic growth. The Minister for Rural and Community Development, Heather Humphreys TD, has announced €115 million for 23 projects across the country under the Rural Regeneration Development Fund (RRDF).

Cois Móire - A new documentary series by Cormorant Films on TG4

Diarmuid Ó Drisceoil brings you the story of the River Blackwater, An Abhainn Mhór na Mumhan. Following in the footsteps of Annroai O’ Liathain and using his book Cois Móire as a travel guide, Diarmuid will travel this spine of river, from its source near the breast of the Goddess Danú in Kerry, into Mallow, Fermoy, onto Lismore, Cappoquin and finally its mouth at the sea in Youghal.

Contract Signing to deliver Mallow Pool Extension and Upgrade

Deputy Mayor of the County of Cork, Cllr Deirdre O’Brien has welcomed the announcement that Cork County Council has appointed JODA Engineering to lead a Multidisciplinary Design Team who will provide the necessary expertise to prepare a full and comprehensive Final Design, Tender, Construction and Certification Complete for the proposed Mallow Pool Extension and Upgrade at New Road, Mallow, Co. Cork.

Villages Receive €68,750 Investment in Macroom Municipal District

The village of Clondrohid has welcomed significant investment under Cork County Council’s Village Enhancement Fund. Improvement works valued at €50,750 have been completed as part of the Macroom Municipal District 2021 Programme, with a further €18,000 dedicated towards speed safety measures in villages across the district.

Crosshaven Boosted by €40,000 Outdoor Sports Facility

A new multi-use games area has been officially opened in Crosshaven, County Cork. The ribbon was cut on the outdoor facility for young people by the Mayor of the County of Cork, Cllr Danny Collins.

The €40,000 multi-use games area provides basketball and soccer facilities free of charge to children and young people. The astroturf pitch and court is located in the Camden area of Crosshaven and is open seven days a week.

Community Input Sought for Town and Village Scheme 2022

Cork County Council is seeking Expressions of Interest from countywide community, business, and development groups for the Town and Village Renewal Scheme 2022. Recently announced by Minister for Rural and Community Development Heather Humphreys TD, this year’s scheme will place particular emphasis on projects which support bringing vacant or derelict buildings and sites back into use as multi-purpose community spaces.

Volunteers who assisted during Covid Pandemic honoured at special recognition event

Volunteers who selflessly gave their time to help others during the Covid-19 pandemic have been recognised by the Mayor of the County of Cork Cllr Gillian Coughlan, Manager of the Cork Volunteer Centre Adam Lacy and Chief Executive of Cork County Council Tim Lucey with more than 120 guests in attendance at a very special event to coincide with National Volunteer Week 2022.
