Scheme Video of N71 Knockroa to Seafield Pavement Strengthening Scheme Phase 1
In early 2020, the Knockroe to Seafield Pavement Strengthening Scheme Phase 1 was undertaken. This scheme was designed and managed by the Cork National Roads Office, constructed by Arkil Ltd and funded by Transport Infrastructure Ireland.
The works were located on the N71 National Secondary Route at Derrycarhoon between Ballydehob and Bantry for a distance of 3.3km approximately. The type of work involved was the removal of failed sections of pavement, subsequent strengthening of these sections and resurfacing with bituminous macadam. Works also included verge clearance, storm water drainage, tree surgery, road markings and traffic management.
The following video shows the scheme before, during and after construction.
