Stranger than Fiction: Online Non-fiction Events Series - Eimear Ryan
On Monday 26th May, Cork based writer Eimear Ryan will discuss her book, The Grass Ceiling: on being a woman in sport. Eimear’s book explores women’s experiences in the sporting world. It digs deep into the confluence of gender and sport, and all the questions it throws up about identity, status, competition and self-expression. At a time when women's sport is on the rise but still a long way from equality, it is a sharp, nuanced and heartfelt exploration of questions that affect everyone who loves sport.
Eimear’s fiction work has appeared in Granta, Winter Papers, the Dublin Review and the Stinging Fly. Her first novel, Holding Her Breath, was shortlisted for the Newcomer of the Year Award at the Irish Book Awards, the Kate O’Brien Award and the John McGahern Prize.
