Cork County Council’s Arts Office is inviting artists to become part of a newly established ‘Community of Practice,’ specifically designed for those engaged in socially driven artistic practices. The initiative offers a unique opportunity for artists across all disciplines to collaborate, network, share skills and learn together.
Artists from any artform that involves community engagement and social interaction – whether music, dance, theatre, visual arts or other creative practices – are welcome to join. The ‘Community of Practice’ will serve as a space for creative individuals to connect around a shared passion, exchange experiences and knowledge.

The aim is that the group will become self-sustaining so that members shape the direction and focus of their work and decide together what their needs are as a group. Cork County Council’s Arts Office will support the group with training opportunities, guidance and facilitation where needed. The group will meet several times per year either in person or online.

Speaking of the new initiative, Mayor of the County of Cork, Cllr. Joe Carroll said,

This is a valuable opportunity for artists to develop their careers, build their networks and exchange ideas. By joining the Community of Practice, artists will not only expand their own skills, but will also contribute to the enrichment of our vibrant artistic community in Cork County.

The initial meeting for the Cork County ‘Community of Practice’ will take place on Monday the 18th of November at Cork County Hall from 10.30am to 12.30pm. This is primarily for artists based in Cork County, but will also be open to those working in the county. Register your interest by emailing arts@corkcoco.ie.
