Cork County Council has launched a survey inviting the Kanturk community to contribute their views to the development of a regeneration plan for the town.

Funding of €30,000 to develop a Town Centre First Regeneration Plan for the North Cork town was approved in March this year by the Department of Rural and Community Development. The funding will be used to develop a community-led vision for Kanturk leading to the development of a Town Centre First Plan that can then support competitive bids for national and local funding to progress the projects identified.

The aim of the Town Centre First Policy is to create town centres that function as viable, vibrant and attractive locations for people to live, work and visit, while also functioning as the service, social, cultural and recreational hub for the local community.

Welcoming the launch of the survey, Mayor of the County of Cork, Cllr. Joe Carroll said,

The findings of this survey will play a guiding role in the development of the Town Centre First plan for Kanturk. I encourage all members of the community in Kanturk and surrounds to have their say. All ideas and suggestions are welcome.

Cork County Council will be developing the regeneration plan for Kanturk in consultation with residents and business owners together with the wider community who visit the town regularly.

To complete the survey, click the link at the bottom of this page. Alternatively, printed copies of the survey are available at Kanturk library. The survey takes only a few minutes to complete and will be open until Wednesday the 31st of July.

Next steps will involve focused consultation with key stakeholder groups to mark the start of the plan development process. For queries, contact Cork County Council’s Town Regeneration Office at townregenerationoffice@corkcoco.ie
