Cork County Council Announces Affordable Homes in Midleton

A row of 4 new Affordabel houses in Tir Cluain, Midleton.

A new affordable housing development in Midleton will open for applications next week. Cork County Council is inviting prospective homeowners to apply for the new two and three bed houses at Tir Cluain, which are being offered at a discounted rate, from 12 noon on Monday the 2nd of September 2024.

The development of 13 A-rated, family homes is in a much sought-after residential location within walking distance of Midleton Train Station and the town’s Main Street. Constructed by O’Mahony Developments, the houses will generally be available for first-time buyers who do not own a home (although a small number of exceptions apply) and Fresh Start Applicants.

Welcoming the new affordable homes, Mayor of the County of Cork, Cllr. Joe Carroll said,

Cork County Council is delighted to announce the launch of this Affordable Housing Scheme in Midleton. The development at Tir Cluain is superbly situated in this popular residential area just a short walk from Midleton’s town centre and all its amenities. This new scheme demonstrates the work that Cork County Council is doing in achieving the targets set by the government.

Through the Scheme, purchasers will enter an affordable dwelling purchase arrangement with Cork County Council.   Under this arrangement, the Council will retain a percentage equity share in the dwelling, equal to the difference between the market value of the dwelling and the price paid by the purchaser, expressed as a percentage of the market value of the dwelling (minimum of 5%).

The launch of these 13 houses, provided by the Council under the Affordable Scheme will provide a further supply of high-quality homes for eligible applicants.
 

Applications for the scheme will be accepted between 12 noon on the 2nd of September 2024 and 12 noon on the 23rd of September 2024 via the online application portal on the Affordable Housing section of our website.
