Cork County Council Storm Éowyn Update – Friday 6pm
Cork County Council’s response to the damage caused by Storm Éowyn will continue throughout the weekend.
The priority today was in ensuring that national primary, national secondary, and a majority of regional roads would be operational and free flowing. Significant progress was made throughout the day with main roads reopening in N71 Glengarriff, Crosshaven, between Bandon and Ballineen, Ballinspittle, the N20 near Ballyhea, and the N72 near Mallow Racecourse. These roads are now fully operational again.
The clean-up operation will take several days to complete, and all road users are asked to take care and watch out for debris, fallen powerlines and downed trees or branches on roads, footpaths, active and travel corridors.
The Council’s Emergency Line remains open on (021) 4800048 to report issues.
Cork County Council swimming pools in Dunmanway, Fermoy and Mallow will open as normal tomorrow Saturday. Libraries are also expected to open as normal tomorrow.
Civic Amenity Sites in Mallow, Kanturk and Millstreet will, however, remain closed tomorrow morning pending early morning inspections.
Dursey Cable Car will remain out of service until a post-storm technical inspection is completed.
Updates will be provided on our website and across the Council’s social media channels @Corkcoco.
