Cork County Council Update on Storm Éowyn – Tuesday 20.00 PM
Cork County Council’s Community Response Forum has been meeting daily in response to Storm Éowyn.
The forum, which includes representatives of Cork County Council, the HSE, An Garda Síochána, Local Development Companies and support agencies will continue to meet and will respond as required to assist those who have no power or water and are experiencing difficulties following the storm.
This evening Cork County Council convened the Local Co-Ordination Group of principal response agencies to coordinate supports across the county. The ESB provided a detailed update to the group.
Huge progress has been made by the ESB in the restoration of power across Cork County with the number of people experiencing outages continuing to decrease. Many of the outages identified earlier this morning have now been fixed and supply restored. Details of a small number of vulnerable customers who may be impacted has been shared by the ESB with the HSE and the Gardai who will make contact locally. These customers will be provided with the Council’s emergency contact number and the details of local support services available. The ESB is continuing to work to restore supply to the small number of identified customers who are still without power.
Given the collective impact from the weather over the last four weeks a localised response centre is being established in Newmarket in North Cork by IRD Duhallow. The centre will be open to anyone who requires assistance.
The Department of Social Protection Humanitarian Assistance Scheme is available to provide support to those living in properties that have been directly affected by Storm Éowyn.
Cork County Council’s emergency phoneline 021 4800048 is available to people who need assistance following Storm Éowyn. The phoneline will be operational 24/7.
