A gourp of people in suits

Cork County Council has extended the deadline for applications to the Midleton and East Cork Individual Property Protection Scheme by one week. The new closing date for applications is 12 pm on Monday the 18th of November 2024.

The scheme, administered by Cork County Council and funded by the OPW, is for properties that flooding during Storm Babet. It will provide measures such as flood gates to reduce the risk of water entering through doors or other openings.

To date, Cork County Council has received over 800 applications.  The vast majority have been approved to progress to the next stage of the scheme.  It is anticipated that the first property surveys by independent consulting engineers will commence over the coming weeks.

A small proportion of applications have been deemed ineligible on first assessment.  If an applicant has been advised that they are ineligible for the scheme and are of the view that this decision is incorrect, the applicant can email ipp@corkcoco.ie; outline why their application should be reviewed, and provide further information where possible. All correspondence received will be reviewed and responded to.

All applications and submissions will be retained on the system. Once the initial eligible properties have been inspected, Cork County Council will engage with the OPW to explore the possibility of including additional properties.
