Fastnet Film Festival Short Film Programme

Cork County Council and the Fastnet Film Festival have come together this festive season offering 16 Cork themed family-friendly short films for festive viewing as part of the Council’s ‘A Real Cork Christmas’ campaign.

These shorts have entertained many Cork natives and visitors over the years at the Fastnet Film Festival in Schull and are now being brought together to highlight the work of the Festival in the Cork film industry and showcase the beauty and magnetic imagery of Cork County.

Four shorts will begin to screen each week during the month of December and by the month’s end all 16 will be available to viewers. Remaining online until the 31st January, this offers film fans the chance to watch, rewatch and share these visual treats. Ranging from art house to comedy, and everything in between, there is something for everyone with the Fastnet Film Festival’s online offering.

Mayor of the County of Cork Cllr. Mary Linehan Foley stated

“On behalf of Cork County Council, I am honoured to help bring these 16 big-screen representations of our county into the homes of the people of Cork and those further afield who look forward to visiting us in the future. Having supported the Fastnet Film Festival since its inception, it’s wonderful to see its success in providing us with wonder unmitigated by the current situation. To be able to bring a bit of Fastnet into homes far and wide is a massive boost for the Arts and for culture in Cork County.”

Fastnet Film Festival chairperson, Tom McCarthy, said of the venture that

“Fastnet Film Festival is delighted with this collaboration showcasing the wealth of talent coming out of Cork. This is just a small selection of the short films submitted to us in recent years, and as you will see the standard is very high. We hope you enjoy them.”
