Competition to Name the New Carrigaline Western Relief Road

The new Carrigaline Western Relief Road will be named by the local community, following a proposal by the Elected Members of Carrigaline Municipal District. Children attending schools in Carrigaline together with members of the public are invited to submit their proposed name, which should recognise the links to Carrigaline’s past while also considering the towns future.

New Boardwalk Over River Blackwater Opens In Mallow

A new boardwalk, designed to provide a safe way for pedestrians to cross the River Blackwater, has been officially opened in Mallow. The ribbon on the 130-metre-long walkway, Cllr. Dan Joe Fitzgerald Boardwalk was cut by the Mayor of the County of Cork, Cllr. Gillian Coughlan, Mary Fitzgerald and the Chief Executive of Cork County Council, Tim Lucey on Monday, June 20th 2022.

Music Scheme Returns to West Cork Towns This Summer

Cork County Council’s Special Music Event Scheme returns to West Cork this month with free musical entertainment in Bandon, Kinsale, Skibbereen, Clonakilty and Dunmanway. This community-driven initiative aims to promote tourism in West Cork and is a collaborative project between the Council, businesses and the community.

The Mayor of the County of Cork, Cllr Gillian Coughlan is asking people to “be sound” and leave no trace when enjoying the outdoors this summer. Cork County Council has launched an anti-litter campaign to encourage people to dispose of their rubbish responsibly and help keep Cork County clean.

Submissions Invited on Carrigaline’s Transportation Public Realm Enhancement Plan

Cork County Council has today commenced the Part 8 process for Phase 1A of the Carrigaline Transportation Public Realm Enhancement Plan (TPREP).   The project will see a multi-million-euro investment in the town of Carrigaline and will be transformative in terms of re-invigorating and rejuvenating the core of the town.

Temporary Speed Limit: Baile Mhic Íre, Macroom

Cork County Council will be imposing a (50km/h) temporary speed limit for the duration of the works at Baile Mhic Íre, Macroom commencing (Tuesday 07.06.22 – Tuesday 06.06.23) or such earlier date as may be determined by Cork County Council.  A Temporary Road Works Speed Limit of 50km/h will apply at the below Road Location:

Community Input Sought for Town and Village Scheme 2022

Cork County Council is seeking Expressions of Interest from countywide community, business, and development groups for the Town and Village Renewal Scheme 2022. Recently announced by Minister for Rural and Community Development Heather Humphreys TD, this year’s scheme will place particular emphasis on projects which support bringing vacant or derelict buildings and sites back into use as multi-purpose community spaces.
