Notice to Mariners
No. 11 of 2024

To all ship owners, shipmasters, agents, fishing vessels, pleasure craft users, seafarers and fishery organisations.

Ballycotton Harbour, Dredging Operation

Mariners are advised that the dredging of the seabed within Ballycotton Harbour will commence on the 1st of September 2024 to the 31st of October 2024. In order to facilitate the dredging operation, Ballycotton pier and harbour will be closed from the 20th of August 2024 to the 31st of October 2024.  

Mooring holders are requested to remove their moorings and vessels in advance of the 20th of August 2024. Cork County Council will remove any remaining moorings after the 20th of August 2024 and place the equipment on the  quay side for collection by their owners. If the mooring equipment is not collected within 7 days from the quayside, it will be removed and disposed of off-site. Moorings holders are also requested to register the location of their existing moorings by the 9th of August 2024 with the Ballycotton Harbour Master and in advance of their removal . Please note the dredging vessel, “Clíona”, can be contacted on VHF Channel 6 in the case of an emergency during this period.
