Temporary Closing of Public Roads

ROADS ACT, 1993
TEMPORARY CLOSING OF PUBLIC ROADS

Pursuant to Section 75 of the Roads Act 1993, & Article 12 of the Roads Regulations 1994, notice is hereby given that Cork County Council proposes to temporarily close the following road for the period and reason specified below:

Road Subject of Proposed Closure

Motorway M8, Southbound between Junction No. 15 Fermoy South (Corrin) and Junction No. 17 (Watergrasshill) Co Cork.

Period of Proposed Closure 

From 20:00hrs to 06:00hrs (Nightly Closure) from Wednesday, 1st May 2024 to Friday, 17th May 2024. 

The works for this closure will take no more than 2 nights and these works will be undertaken within the above timeframe excluding weekends.

Reason for Proposed Closure

To facilitate Resurfacing over 2 nights only – weather permitting.

Alternative Routes

Southbound diversion from Junction No. 15 via the R639 and rejoin at Junction No. 17. 

Local Access will not be maintained throughout the duration of the closure.

Objections

Objections to this proposed temporary road closure should be made in writing, to the undersigned, quoting Ref: TRC-30 -2024, not later than 5pm on Tuesday, 26th March 2024.  Telephone contact details should be included in the objection.
