Temporary Closing of Public Roads

ROADS ACT, 1993
TEMPORARY CLOSING OF PUBLIC ROADS

Pursuant to Section 75 of the Roads Act 1993, & Article 12 of the Roads Regulations 1994, notice is hereby given that Cork County Council proposes to temporarily close the following road for the period and reason specified below:

Road Subject of Proposed Closure

R-587-95, Glaun to Athashrone Cross, Kilmichael, Co. Cork. 

Period of Proposed Closure 

From 07:00hrs to 20:00hrs (Daily Closure) on Thursday 1st August 2024 to Friday 9th August 2024.

Reason for Proposed Closure

To facilitate Road Resurfacing.

Alternative Routes

Northbound Traffic: Follow the R-585 east to its junction with the L-4603.  Follow this road north to Tarelton. Take the L-4604 east to rejoin the R-587 at Kilmichael. 

The same diversion applies in reverse for southbound traffic.

Local Access will be maintained throughout the duration of the closure.

This closure will take place in sequence with TRC-72-2024 – L-4603-0, Slieveowen, Kilmichael, Co. Cork but both roads will not be closed at the same time.

Objections

Objections to this proposed temporary road closure should be made in writing, to the undersigned, quoting Ref: TRC-73-2024, not later than 5pm on Wednesday 26th June 2024.  Telephone contact details should be included in the objection.
