Temporary Closing of Public Roads

TEMPORARY CLOSING OF PUBLIC ROADS
Pursuant to Section 75 of the Roads Act 1993, & Article 12 of the Roads Regulations 1994, notice is hereby given that Cork County Council proposes to temporarily close the following road for the period and reason specified below:
Road Subject of Proposed Closure
R595 (Part of) The Square/North Street, Skibbereen, Co. Cork.
Period of Proposed Closure
From 07:00hrs to 19.00hrs from Monday 30th September, 2024 to Friday 25th October, 2024 (Daily Closure).
Reason for Proposed Closure
To facilitate Road Resurfacing Works.
Alternative Routes
Traffic heading East/West will use the Skibbereen Relief Road (N71) as normal.
Works are planned out in 3 separate phases. When North Street is closed the alternative routes are as follows: -
Phase 1: Traffic heading towards Baltimore and Castletownshend will exit the Schull roundabout on the N71 and travel along Ilen Street (L4211-23), take a left onto Bridge Street, then onto Main Street (R595), take a right onto Market Street (R595).
Phase 2: Traffic heading towards Baltimore and Castletownshend will exit the Schull roundabout on the N71 and travel along Ilen Street (L4211-23), take a left onto Bridge Street, then a right onto Railway Road (L4254-0) which leads out onto the Baltimore Road (R595).
Traffic heading for High Street will have to exit Baltimore Road and head towards Market Street (R595), take a right and head up the Gortnacloughy Road (L4253-0).
Phase 3: Involves the closure of High Street (L4216-15) junction with Market Street (R595). Traffic heading towards High Street (L4216-15) will continue onto Market Street (R595), take a left onto the Gortnacloughy Road (L4253-0).
Objections
Objections to this proposed temporary road closure should be made in writing, to the undersigned, quoting Ref: TRC-122-2024, not later than 5pm on Wednesday 4th September, 2024. Telephone contact details should be included in the objection.
