Road Traffic Act 1994

Proposed Traffic Calming Measures at Main Street & Kilmoney Road  (R611), Church Hill (L-2495) and Strand Road (L-2547), Carrigaline

Pursuant to the provisions of Section 38 of the Road Traffic Act, 1994, Cork County Council hereby gives notice of its intention to introduce traffic calming measures on Main Street & Kilmoney Road (R611), Church Hill (L-2495) and  Strand Road (L-2547) in Carrigaline, Co. Cork;

The scheme will comprise the upgrade of Main Street (R611) between its junctions with Church Road (R613) and Ferney Road (L-6506). The upgrade includes line-marking, signage, speed-tables, minor concrete works, bollards, traffic signals, and all associated works that will help to create:

  • A designated southbound bus-only lane on Main Street (R611) between Church Road (R613) and Strand Road (L-2547);
  • One-way southbound traffic on Church Hill (L-2495). The one-way section commences south of the entrance to Mount Rivers;
  • One-way westbound traffic on Strand Road (L-2547). The one-way section commences west of the Public Library.

The implementation of these works will coincide with the opening of the Carrigaline Western Relief Road and are a precursor to the measures identified in the Carrigaline Transportation and Public Realm Enhancement Plan.
