Cork County Council Celebrate Success at this Year’s Pride of Place Awards

People from all corners of Ireland gathered in Armagh City Hotel on Friday last for this year’s highly anticipated Pride of Place awards.  Now in its 21st Year, the prestigious awards honour the remarkable contributions of individuals and community groups dedicated to improving their local communities.

The Cork and Kerry Inter-Agency Emergency Management Region South including An Garda Síochána, the Health Service Executive, Cork County Council, Cork City Council and South/Southwest Hospital Group are calling on the public to ‘Be Winter Ready’ this year. Included are Cllr. Frank O'Flynn, Mayor of the County of Cork and Lord Mayor of Cork, Cllr. Kieran McCarthy.

N22 Bypass Makes Way for Baile Bhuirne to Macroom Active Travel Project

Following the recent completion of the N22 Macroom to Baile Bhuirne bypass, Cork County Council has announced a further boost for the communities of Macroom, Baile Mhic Íre, Baile Bhuirne and surrounds. Fehily Timoney and Company have been appointed as technical advisors to oversee the design of the Baile Bhuirne to Macroom Active Travel project for the development of active travel facilities along the old N22 route.

Midleton Kickstarts Christmas in County Cork

The Mayor of the County of Cork, Cllr Frank O'Flynn, is encouraging people to show their support for the town of Midleton following the recent devastating floods with a series of events planned in the build up to Christmas. The Christmas lights will be turned on during a day-long programme of events on Sunday, November 19th welcoming the festive season in County Cork.

Final Call Issued for 'Best in Cork' Awards

Cork County Council is reminding businesses to apply for ‘Best in Cork’ Awards ahead of the deadline at 5pm this Sunday. It’s the first year of the awards which aim to honour businesses and tourism providers who go above and beyond for their customers, teams and communities.

450 North Cork Students Attend Innovation Day in Charleville

Over 450 second level students from 11 schools in North Cork were put through their paces at a special Innovation Day at the Charleville Park Hotel on Tuesday the 7th of November. The event is part of the Student Enterprise Programme, run by Cork County Council’s Local Enterprise Office North Cork which encourages students to set up and run a business over the course of the academic year helping them to learn all about entrepreneurship.

Full Macroom To Baile Bhuirne Bypass Officially Opens

The final section of the N22 Macroom to Baile Bhuirne bypass has been officially opened marking the completion of the €280 million project, funded by Transport Infrastructure Ireland, and progressed under the Government’s Project Ireland 2040. The ribbon was cut on the last 6 km section by Mayor of the County of Cork, Cllr. Frank O’Flynn and Taoiseach, Leo Varadkar TD, together with the Chief Executive of Cork County Council Valerie O’Sullivan on Monday, November 6th.
