“Tomorrow is Sunday” Exhibition at Macroom Town Hall

Tomorrow is Sunday, a photography exhibition by visual artist Miriam O’Connor has opened at Macroom Town Hall. The exhibition unpacks daily life on a County Cork farm and is part of Cork County Council’s Library and Arts Service annual programme in association with Macroom Area Visual Arts (MAVA).

Ghosts of Babylon at Library Headquarters

Cork County Council’s Library Headquarters (LHQ) Gallery is set to host an exciting new exhibition this September with Ghosts of Babylon by West Cork based visual artist Pascal Ungerer. The exhibition brings together Ungerer’s recent landscape paintings and will run from the 6th to the 28th September.

First Event Held at Carrigaline’s New Bandstand

A flute quartet has become the first music group to perform in the new bandstand at Carrigaline Community Park. The amenity was officially opened on Sunday, 29th August by Councillor Marcia D’Alton, Chair of Carrigaline Municipal District.
Rowing Ireland and Cork County Council hosted an official homecoming for the Irish Olympic Rowing Team at the National Rowing Centre, Farran, Co, Cork. Rowing Ireland and Cork County Council Honour Olympic Athletes

The Irish rowing team has been given a heroes’ welcome after an historic performance at the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games. Rowing Ireland and Cork County Council hosted a special homecoming at the Kinetica National Rowing Centre in Cork on Saturday.

New All Terrain Beach Wheelchair Arrives in Youghal

A new all-terrain wheelchair to help people living with a disability enjoy the blue-flag Redbarn Beach in Youghal has been put into service. The wheelchair is the first one of its kind in East Cork and is the result of a partnership between Cork County Council, the Disability Federation of Ireland, Cork Sports Partnership, The Irish Wheelchair Association and the Quality Hotel & Leisure Centre Redbarn.

Cork’s One County, One Book for Teens and Young Adults

Cork County Council Library and Arts Service has announced the inaugural ‘One County, One Book 2021’ read for teens and young Adults. The chosen book is All Our Hidden Gifts by Cork born author, Caroline O’Donoghue. The Council’s ‘One County, One Book’ initiative is designed to promote homegrown literature, with prominent placement in its branches, and to promote literacy as part of its community outreach programmes to young people.

Youghal Medieval Festival Returns Virtually

Mayor of the County of Cork Cllr. Gillian Coughlan welcomes news of the return of Youghal Medieval Festival in a new online format. The festival, which won Chambers Ireland Festival of the year in 2018 drawing over 8,000 visitors, will run in an online format this year from August 14th to the 22nd and will include music, songs and stories.
