Cork County Council is delighted to announce the appointment of Amna Walayat as its inaugural Creative Producer in Residence. The new residency aims to enable a professional artist to creatively connect with communities in Cork County through co-created research, discussions, events, activities and virtual gatherings.

Collision Analysis Confirms Major Safety Issues on N20 Cork to Limerick Road

Figures released by the N/M20 Project office show that the proportion of fatal collisions to all personal injury collisions on the N20 is four times higher than the national average. In addition, the rate of personal injury collisions on the N20 is substantially higher than average, meaning drivers are more likely to be involved in a personal injury collision on the N20 than on other national roads in the country.

A Record 23 Flags Awarded Cork County Beaches

Cork County beaches have been awarded a total of 23 flags by An Taisce at the National Awards for 2021. In all, 10 Blue Flags and 13 Green Coast Flags were won, for beaches that achieve consistently excellent water quality as well as meeting beach infrastructure standards. In addition, Kinsale Marina and Royal Cork Yacht Club Marina retained their Blue Flag Status, while Inchydoney East beach has achieved its first Blue Flag this year, joining Inchydoney West beach which has held its flag continuously since 1993.

County Cork Town’s Embark on Pollinator Plans

Following the successful development of a Pollinator Plan for Midleton, Cork County Council has commenced the roll out of Pollinator Plans for the towns of Carrigaline, Kinsale, Bantry, Macroom, Kanturk and Fermoy, with community workshops hosted by ecologist Tony Nagle.
