Cork County Council Invites Proposals for the 2023 Town and Village Renewal Scheme 

Cork County Council has announced a call for Expressions of Interest for projects under this year’s Town and Village Renewal Scheme.

Minister for Rural and Community Development, Heather Humphreys TD recently launched the 2023 Fund which is designed to revitalise and regenerate our rural towns and villages. The Fund will focus on tackling vacancy and dereliction, as well as bringing additional footfall into town centres.

Supports will also be made available for outdoor projects such as new plazas, parks, playgrounds and green spaces along with funding for towns and villages that wish to develop their own farmer or artisan markets. Funding will be ring-fenced to support projects in the island communities.

The Town and Village Renewal Scheme is administered through local authorities, who work with local communities and businesses to develop and implement proposals.Welcoming the return of the Scheme, Mayor of the County of Cork, Cllr. Frank O’Flynn,

I am thrilled to announce the call for Expressions of Interest for this year's Town and Village Renewal Scheme. This initiative has brought remarkable transformations to our rural communities in the past. This year, we are particularly encouraging towns and villages who have not yet benefitted from the scheme to share your ideas and consider making a submission.

The 2023 Fund is an exciting opportunity to revitalise and regenerate our rural towns and villages. With a focus on tackling vacancy and dereliction while attracting more footfall into our town centres, we aim to create vibrant and thriving communities. We are committed to working closely with local communities and businesses on their valuable proposals, so that we can put forward projects that will make a real difference in our communities.

Sheol an tAire Forbartha Tuaithe agus Pobail, Heather Humphreys TD, Ciste 2023 le déanaí atá deartha chun ár mbailte agus sráidbhailte tuaithe a athbheochan agus a athnuachan. Díreoidh an Ciste ar dhul i ngleic le folúntas agus tréigean, chomh maith le líon na gcustaiméirí breise a thabhairt isteach i lár na mbailte.

Cuirfear tacaíochtaí ar fáil freisin do thionscadail faoin aer mar phláis nua, páirceanna, clóis súgartha agus spásanna glasa chomh maith le maoiniú do bhailte agus sráidbhailte ar mian leo a margaí feirmeoirí nó ceardaithe féin a fhorbairt. Déanfar maoiniú a chur ar leataobh chun tacú le tionscadail sna pobail oileánda.Is trí údaráis áitiúla a riartar an Scéim Athnuachana Baile agus Sráidbhaile, a oibríonn le pobail agus gnólachtaí áitiúla chun tograí a fhorbairt agus a chur i bhfeidhm.

I mbliana, táimid ag spreagadh bailte agus sráidbhailte nár bhain leas as an scéim fós go háirithe a gcuid smaointe a roinnt agus cuimhneamh ar aighneacht a dhéanamh.

Is deis spreagúil é Ciste 2023 chun ár mbailte agus sráidbhailte tuaithe a athbheochan agus a athnuachan. Le béim ar dhul i ngleic le folúntas agus tréigean agus níos mó daoine a mhealladh isteach i lár ár mbailte, tá sé mar aidhm againn pobail bheoga agus rathúla a chruthú. Táimid tiomanta do bheith ag obair go dlúth le pobail agus le gnólachtaí áitiúla ar a dtograí luachmhara, ionas gur féidir linn tionscadail a chur ar aghaidh a dhéanfaidh fíordhifríocht inár bpobail.
