Update From Cork County Council on Storm Gerrit

Cork County Council can confirm that there have been no significant impacts across the county arising from the adverse weather brought about by Storm Gerrit overnight. The strong winds have resulted in some fallen trees and debris on the roads, with a total of 13 fallen trees reported to the Council during the course of Wednesday 27th and overnight. Crews are responding to these as a priority.

There are no reports of any significant damage to property. High tides have passed without incident.

The heavy rainfall over the past 24-36 hours has resulted in spot flooding across the county’s road network. While there is no major disruption on the network, road users should exercise care due to surface water and the resultant risk of damage to road surfaces.

River levels continue to be monitored and while they are rising, there are no immediate concerns. Demountable flood barriers have been erected in both Mallow and Fermoy as a precautionary measure.

Issues such as flooding and road damage should be reported to your local Council Office during working hours (9am to 5pm), details of which can be found below. Outside working hours (5pm to 9am), the Council can be contacted via its 'Emergency Out of Hours' number (021) 4800048. 

Council crews are on the ground across the county responding to issues and prioritising the most critical issues where necessary.
