Cork County Council will shortly begin accepting applications for a new Affordable Housing Scheme in Mallow that is being progressed on behalf of the Land Development Agency.  Applications for the new three and four-bedroom houses at Clonmore, Ballyviniter in Mallow will open at 12 noon on Monday the 24th of June 2024.

Constructed by O’Flynn Group, the houses will generally be available for first-time buyers who do not own a home (although a small number of exceptions apply) and Fresh Start Applicants.

Set in the Blackwater Valley, the development is in a good location within walking distance of Mallow town centre and adjacent to a mature residential area.  A minimum of 8 three-bedroom houses will be available from €275,000, representing a reduction of approximately 21.4% from market value and a minimum of 2 four-bedroom houses from €295,000, representing a reduction of approximately 20.2% from market value.

Welcoming the new affordable homes, Mayor of the County of Cork, Cllr. Frank O’Flynn said,

Mallow offers an excellent choice of educational and recreational facilities for families. Cork County Council is delighted to launch this Affordable Housing Scheme in Mallow. Clonmore offers A-rated homes with the convenience of urban dwelling combined with the benefits of a rural lifestyle, providing houses in a well-designed landscaped setting.

Through the Affordable Housing Scheme, purchasers will enter an affordable dwelling purchase arrangement with Cork County Council.  Under this arrangement, the Council will retain a percentage equity share in the dwelling, equal to the difference between the market value of the dwelling and the price paid by the purchaser, expressed as a percentage of the market value of the dwelling (minimum of 5%).
