Temporary Closing of Public Roads

TEMPORARY CLOSING OF PUBLIC ROADS

Pursuant to Section 75 of the Roads Act 1993, & Article 12 of the Roads Regulations 1994, notice is hereby given that Cork County Council proposes to temporarily close the following road for the period and reason specified below:

Roads Subject of Proposed Closure

R585 -88 (Full) and R585-103 (Parts), Coppeen Village to Béal na Bláth, Gearagh, Garranes, Bengour West to Killmurry Junction with L2004/L2008 on the Cork side, Co. Cork.

Part of the R585 – sections 103 and 88 from its junction with the R588 at Coppeen Village to Béal na Bláth.  Full road closure a distance of 4345m to the east Moneynacroha Five Cross Road (L8517-28, L8673-0, L95852-2) in the townlands Gearagh, Garranes, Bengour West to Killmurry Junction with L2004/L2008 on the Cork side.

Period of Proposed Closure 

From 07:00hrs to 20:00hrs (Daily Closure) from Thursday 8th August to Friday 16th August 2024.

Reason for Proposed Closure

To facilitate road restoration improvement works on the R585.

Alternative Routes

Traffic coming from Cork, VMS on N22 before R585 junction for Crookstown, directing traffic along N22 to Macroom.  In Macroom sign at Hartnetts Cross directing traffic west along R584, at Toom Bridge, direct south on the R587 to Gloun to meet the R585. 

The stated diversion route is applicable in reverse when travelling in the opposite direction.

Additional information signs and V.M.S. boards will be in place.

Signs 

On the N71 at Ballylickey Bridge, Kealkill – R585 closed at Coppeen and Béal na Bláth directing towards R586, if they travel along the R585 at Shanlaragh sign directing to Cork via Macroom.

Local access will be maintained throughout the duration of the Road Closure.

Objections

Objections to this proposed temporary road closure should be made in writing, to the undersigned, quoting Ref: TRC-84-2024, not later than 5.00pm on Thursday 4th July 2024.  Telephone contact details should be included in the objection.

L-2967 Carhoo, Spring Hill, Cobh, Co. Cork.

Period of Proposed Closure 

From 07:00hrs on Monday 12th August 2024 to 19:00hrs on Friday 23rd August 2024. (24hr Closure).

Reason for Proposed Closure

To facilitate Road Resurfacing Works.

Alternative Routes

From Annsgrove turn left on to the L-3605 at next junction turn right on to L-3004, take the next right on to the L-7000 continue straight through the cross roads onto the L-6993, at the next cross roads turn right on to the L-2966 and the next right to join the L-2967.

The stated diversion route is applicable in reverse when travelling in the opposite direction.

Local access will be maintained throughout the duration of the Road Closure.
