Comhairle Contae Chorcaí chun Tacú le Dráma do Pháistí i nGaeilge
Tá an tionscadal seo á sheoladh ag Oifigí Ealaíon agus Gaeilge na Comhairle i gcomhar le Graffiti Theatre Company, agus le tacaíocht ó Éire Ildánach. Tabharfar meantóireacht agus tacaíocht don ealaíontóir a roghnófar tríd an phróisis.
Deir Méara Chontae Chorcaí, an Clr. Gillian Coughlan gur tionscnamh iontach spreagúil é,
“Is bealach iontach iad drámaí le siamsaíocht a thabhairt chuig páistí agus le grá don drámaíocht a chur in aithne dóibh. Tá sé fíorthábhachtach freisin go mbeidh an dráma seo i nGaeilge. Is cuid bhunúsach dár gcultúr í an Ghaeilge, mar thír, agus mar chontae, agus is cuid shuntasach agus bródúil de dhrámaíocht na hÉireann iad drámaí as Gaeilge. Bheadh an tionscadal seo oiriúnach do Ghaeilgeoir atá ina scríbhneoir uaillmhianach. Tá súil agam go spreagfaidh sé tuilleadh saothair do pháistí trí mheán na Gaeilge.”
Beidh trí chéim ag an tionscadal a chuirfear chun cinn i rith na bliana: Scríbhneoireacht agus Forbairt, Cleachtadh agus Léiriúchán, agus Léiriú (taibhiú). Soláthróidh Stiúrthóir Comhlach Graffiti, Síle Ní Bhroin, saineolas ar scríobh agus léiriúchán as Gaeilge do pháistí.
Tá go dtí meán oíche (23.59) Dé Domhnaigh, 23 Eanáir ag drámadóirí, scríbhneoirí, agus ealaíontóirí iarratas a dhéanamh. Ní theastaíonn aon taithí drámadóireachta roimhe seo, ach tá díograis agus paisean don scríbhneoireacht agus don chruthú ríthábhachtach, mar aon le dea-theist roimhe seo i bhforbairt agus i seachadadh tionscadail. Tá cumas oibre trí Ghaeilge ríthábhachtach agus ba chóir go mbeadh an t-ealaíontóir 18 mbliana d’aois ar a laghad, lonnaithe in Éirinn agus in ann taisteal go Corcaigh de réir mar is gá.
Chun iarratas a dhéanamh, tabhair cuairt ar thairseach na Comhairle, ar líne ag www.yourcouncil.ie. Iarrtar ar iarratasóirí achoimre gearr a thabhairt ar smaoineamh/togra atá acu do dhráma , nó sampla scríbhneoireachta, nach mó ná 500 focal a áireamh. Déanfaidh painéal, le hionadaithe ó Graffiti Theatre agus Comhairle Contae Chorcaí, na hiarratais a mheas. Cork County Council has issued a call out to playwrights and theatre makers who are interested in creating a new play through Irish for young audiences. The aim is to commission an artist to make an Irish language play which is accessible and entertaining for children up to the age of 12. It will be performed in local libraries and other locations throughout the county.
The project which is supported by Creative Ireland is a collaboration between the Council’s Arts and Irish Offices and Graffiti Theatre Company. The chosen artist will be mentored and supported throughout.
Mayor of the County of Cork, Cllr. Gillian Coughlan said it’s a really exciting project,
“Plays are a fantastic way of entertaining children and introducing them to a love of drama. The fact that the play will be in Irish is also really important. The Irish language is an intrinsic part of our culture, as a country, and as a county, and Irish language plays are a notable and proud part of Irish drama. It would be ideal for a Gaeilgeoir who is an aspiring writer. I hope it will encourage further works for children through the medium of Irish.”
The project will have three phases which will be advanced throughout the year: Writing and Development, Rehearsals and Production, and Performance. Expertise in writing and performance as Gaeilge for children will be provided by Graffiti’s Associate Director, Síle Ní Bhroin.
Playwrights and artists have until midnight on Sunday, January 23rd to apply. No previous playwriting experience is required, but enthusiasm and a passion for writing and creating is key, along with a previous track record in developing and delivering a project. An ability to work through Irish is vital and the artist should be at least 18 years of age, based in Ireland and able to travel to Cork as needed.
Applicants are asked to provide a proposal in the form of either an outline of an idea for a play, or a sample of writing, not exceeding 500 words. Applications will be assessed by a panel representing Graffiti Theatre and Cork County Council. To apply, visit Cork County Council’s online portal at www.yourcouncil.ie For more information, contact Cork County Council’s Arts Office at 021 4285995 or email arts@corkcoco.ie
