Cork County Council’s Creative Communities Programme Fund 2024 is now open for applications which focus on new and ambitious projects that establish cultural and creative activities with communities across Cork County. This year, for the first time, the fund will be available for projects of one, two, or three year duration.

The Fund also assists projects that involve both community groups and the creative sector, such as artists, designers, makers, or arts organisations. Successful projects will include communities collaborating with a creative person or organisation which supports or improves the quality of life and wellbeing in the community. Activities could include events, research, workshops, conversations, placemaking programmes, or programmes that include multicultural or multigenerational communities.

The Mayor of the County of Cork, Cllr. Frank O’Flynn welcomed the funding, saying

Cork County Council is delighted to support creativity across our communities with the support of Creative Ireland. The ambition to make creativity part of everyone’s life is vital to placemaking, community building, and our own wellbeing. With this fund, I hope to see communities come together to work on creative projects. Communities may be a specific place such as a town or village, but may also be communities of interest, such as groups of people who share an identity, or those who share an experience. We look forward to seeing the outcomes over the next three years.

In 2023, Cork County Council’s Creative Communities Programme funded, among others, the ‘Company of Trees’. The ‘Company of Trees’ is an intergenerational art collaboration between a group of children in West Cork’s Kilmeen National School and a collection of older persons from the wider Kilmeen community, affectionately known as the 'Gransterz'. The project was initiated in 2018 and culminated with a multimedia exhibition representing all six years of an intergenerational journey that revolved around exploring and experiencing trees through arts sessions on location in Kilmeen and Castlefreke Woods.

Applications can be made for projects that will be one, two, or three years in duration. There will be a maximum award of €10,000 for a one-year project, €20,000 for a two-year project, or €30,000 for a three-year project, with a minimum award of €2,000, €4,000, and €6,000, respectively. Applications open until February 23rd, 2024.

The Creative Communities Programme is funded by Creative Ireland, a government initiative designed to promote creativity as a strategy for wellbeing, social cohesion, and economic success. Its core proposition is that participation in cultural and creative activity promotes individual, community and national wellbeing.

A special information session in relation to the programme will take place online on February 1st at 1pm. To register for this session or for funding queries please email creativeireland@corkcoco.ie. Applications for the fund can be made by visiting the link below.

Fógraíonn Comhairle Contae Chorcaí Deiseanna Maoinithe do Thionscadail Phobail Chruthaitheacha

Tá Ciste Chlár na bPobal Ildánach de chuid Chomhairle Contae Chorcaí 2024 oscailte anois d'iarratais a dhíríonn ar thionscadail nua uaillmhianacha a bhunaíonn gníomhaíochtaí cultúrtha agus cruthaitheacha le pobail ar fud Chontae Chorcaí. I mbliana, den chéad uair, beidhan ciste  ar fáil do thionscadail a mhairfidh bliain amháin, dhá bhliain, nó trí bliana.

Cuidíonn an Ciste freisin le tionscadail a bhfuil idir ghrúpaí pobail agus an earnáil chruthaitheach páirteach iontu, amhail ealaíontóirí, dearthóirí, déantóirí, nó eagraíochtaí ealaíon. I measc na dtionscadal rathúil, beidh pobail ag comhoibriú le duine nó le heagraíocht chruthaitheach a thacaíonn nó a fheabhsaíonn caighdeán na beatha agus na folláine sa phobal. D'fhéadfadh imeachtaí, taighde, ceardlanna, comhráite, cláir comhfhorbairt áite, nó cláir ina gcuimseofar pobail ilchultúrtha nó idirghlúine, a bheith i gceist leis na gníomhaíochtaí.

D'fháiltigh Méara Chontae Chorcaí, an Comhairleoir. Frank O’Flynn roimh an maoiniú, ag labhairt dó

Tá ríméad ar Chomhairle Contae Chorcaí  tacú leis an gcruthaitheacht ar fud ár bpobail le tacaíocht ó Éire Ildánach. Tá an uaillmhian an chruthaitheacht a chuimsiú mar chuid de shaol gach duine ríthábhachtach do chomhfhorbairt áite, do thógáil pobail, agus dár bhfolláine féin. Leis an gciste seo, tá súil agam go dtiocfaidh pobail le chéile chun obair a dhéanamh ar thionscadail chruthaitheacha. D'fhéadfadh áit ar leith ar nós baile nó sráidbhaile a bheith i gceist leis an bhfocal 'pobal', ach d'fhéadfaidís a bheith ina bpobail spéise freisin, amhail grúpaí daoine a bhfuil an fhéiniúlacht chéanna acu, nó iad siúd a bhfuil taithí roinnte acu. Táimid ag tnúth leis na torthaí a fheiceáil sna trí bliana amach romhainn.

In 2023, mhaoinigh Clár na bPobal Ildánach Chomhairle Contae Chorcaí, i measc nithe eile, ‘Company of Trees'. Is comhshaothar ealaíne idirghlúine é ’Company of Trees’ idir ghrúpa páistí i Scoil Náisiúnta Chill Mhín in Iarthar Chorcaí Thiar agus scaifte de sheandaoine ó mhórphobal Chill Mhín, ar a dtugtar 'Gransterz' go geanúil. Cuireadh tús leis an tionscadal in 2018 agus cuireadh deireadh leis le taispeántas ilmheán a léiríonn na sé bliana ar fad d'aistear idirghlúine. Chuimsigh an tionscadal crainn a fhiosrú agus teagmháil a dhéanamh léi trí sheisiúin ealaíon ar an láthair i gCill Mín agus i gCoillte Ráth an Bharraigh.

Is féidir iarratais a dhéanamh ar thionscadail a mhairfidh bliain amháin, dhá bhliain, nó trí bliana. Beidh uasdámhachtain de €10,000 ann do thionscadal bliana, €20,000 do thionscadal dhá bhliain, nó €30,000 do thionscadal trí bliana, le híosdámhachtain de €2,000, €4,000, agus €6,000, faoi seach. Osclaíonn na hiarratais go dtí an 23Feabhra, 2024.

Tá Clár na bPobal Ildánach á mhaoiniú ag Éire Ildánach, tionscnamh rialtais atá deartha chun cruthaitheacht a chur chun cinn mar straitéis maidir le folláine, comhtháthú sóisialta, agus rath eacnamaíoch. Is é a phríomhthogra go gcuireann rannpháirteachas i ngníomhaíocht chultúrtha agus chruthaitheach folláine aonair, phobail agus náisiúnta chun cinn.

Beidh seisiún eolais speisialta maidir leis an gclár ar siúl ar líne ar an 1 Feabhra ag 1i.n. Chun clárú don seisiún seo nó le haghaidh ceisteanna maoinithe seol ríomhphost chuig creativeireland@corkcoco.ie. Is féidir iarratais ar an gciste a dhéanamh ach cliceáil thíos.
