Deadline fast Approaching for ‘BEST IN CORK’ Awards

Cork County Council’s enterprise awards has strong focus on sustainability

Mayor of the County of Cork, Cllr. Frank O'Flynn launching the 'Best in Cork' Awards.

Businesses in County Cork are being encouraged to apply for Cork County Council’s ‘Best in Cork’ Awards ahead of the deadline later this month. It’s the first year of the awards which aim to honour the businesses who go above and beyond for their customers, teams and communities and entries have been received from right across the county.

The awards are free to enter with categories suitable for companies of all sizes, from the sole trader to the large multinational. There is a theme of sustainability and innovation throughout and the panel of independent judges will be looking for companies to demonstrate the efforts they are making to have a positive impact on the environment.

There are additional divisional awards for the four categories Best Start-Up, Best Small, Medium and Large Size Business. There will be a preliminary round of online judging ahead of special lunch events to announce the winners in each of the divisions of North Cork, West Cork and South Cork in December. Entrants for these categories are encouraged to get their applications in ahead of the deadline of Sunday, October 15th. The remaining five categories will remain open for a further four weeks.

The Mayor of the County of Cork, Cllr Frank O’Flynn said,

The quality of the entries we have received so far is exceptionally high. We’re seeing applications from exciting new businesses emerging right across County Cork and exciting companies that continue to adapt and strive for excellence. They all contribute to their local communities and economies making County Cork a vibrant place we can all be proud of. They deserve to be recognised for the efforts they go to every day and that’s what the Best in Cork Awards are all about.

Chief Executive of Cork County Council Valerie O’Sullivan added,

We’re encouraging businesses and tourism operators to get their entries in as soon as possible to be in with the chance of being named the Mayor of the County of Cork’s Best Overall Business. It’s a simple process with a short online form consisting of some basic questions about their business and a small number of questions relevant to each category. This is an opportunity for businesses in County Cork to highlight their successes and to shine. Being shortlisted and winning awards can help to boost morale, may even assist with attracting top talent and have the added benefit of free publicity.

The winners of the Best in Cork Awards will be revealed at a gala ceremony at Vertigo, Cork County Hall on Thursday, January 25th. Mayor of the County of Cork, Cllr. Frank O’Flynn will also announce the Mayor’s Best Overall Business.
