Cork Students Shine at the Rubbish Film Festival Awards

Hundreds of Transition Year (TY) students from across Cork City and County gathered at Fota Wildlife Park’s Education, Conservation and Research Centre on Monday, 31st March, to celebrate their achievements at the 2025 Rubbish Film Festival Awards.

Historic Buildings in Macroom and Castletownbere Receive Conservation Funding

The Mayor of the County of Cork, Cllr Joe Carroll has welcomed Heritage Council grants totalling €450,000 for conservation works on two historic buildings. Cork County Council successfully applied for funding for St Peter’s Church, Castletownbere and Macroom Castle Gate Lodge through the Historic Towns Initiative 2025.

Cork County Council Launch Litter Clean Up Challenge

Mayor of the County of Cork, Cllr. Joe Carroll has announced the return of Cork County Council’s Anti-Litter Challenge. The competition has become an annual fixture for towns and villages in the county and is now open for applications.

Investment of Over €480,000 for County Cork Architectural Heritage

Funding of over €480,000 has been awarded by the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage to support the repair and restoration of 22 historic buildings in Cork County, under the Built Heritage Investment Scheme (BHIS) and the BHIS Historical Thatched Buildings (HTB). Both schemes are run in collaboration with the country’s 31 Local Authorities.
