Popular Paint Scheme extended to Crosshaven and Ringaskiddy for 2021
Welcoming the allocation, Mayor of the County of Cork, Cllr. Mary Linehan Foley commented,
“Over the past twelve months, we have all gained a new appreciation for our towns and villages and we must continue to work to enhance our public spaces for the enjoyment of all. The Streetscape Improvement Scheme provides direct financial assistance to property owners in designated locations within the county to rejuvenate our town centres These improvements bring social and economic benefits for the participating areas, making them better places for residents and visitors alike.”
Chair of Carrigaline MD Cllr Aidan Lombard noted that the extension of the scheme is most welcome for 2021,
“This scheme proved very popular in Carrigaline and Passage West in 2020, providing very welcome support to business owners while also improving the look of our town and village centres. I’m delighted to see the area covered by the scheme is being expanded for 2021 and I would encourage eligible businesses and residential premises to submit an application to help brighten up our towns and villages.”
Annette Foley, member of Passage West Business Association and beneficiary of the Paint Scheme for Passage West Pharmacy, has noted the value that the scheme has brought to Passage West, particularly in light of current restrictions:
“The Shopfront Improvement Scheme has really brightened the village and has drawn very positive comments. The painting highlights the beauty of the buildings of Passage West. The people of Passage West have a great pride in the area, and we are very grateful to Cork County Council for their support.”
Christy Burke, owner of the Ferry Arms in Passage West noted the benefits that the improvements will have once businesses, like his, are allowed to safely reopen:
“The painting has really brightened the building and I have received many compliments on the colours. I liaised with the Architects Department of Cork County Council on the colour choice and they were very helpful. We are ready to roll once allowed to reopen. I would like to thank Cork County Council for their support under the Shopfront Improvement Scheme.”
