Cork County Council Receives KPMG Property Excellence Award 2023 for Cobh Town Centre Urban Design Plan

Cork County Council is delighted to announce that it has been honoured with the prestigious Public Space Planning Award 2023 at the KPMG Property Industry Excellence Awards 2023 for its Cobh Town Centre Urban Design Plan. The Council’s exemplary work in the heart of the town Centre has been recognised for its innovative, people-centered design that prioritises accessibility, inclusiveness, and overall well-being.

Cork County Council Unveils Balanced Budget Of €458.3 Million

Cork County Council has approved its Budget for 2024 totalling over €458 million.  This is the first balanced budget Council has adopted in several years and ensures services are maintained and even increased despite continuing high inflation (7.8% for 2022 and 5.1% to October year on year).

LOCAL MARKETS SHOWCASE THE ‘BEST COUNTY CORK HAS TO OFFER’

The Mayor of the County of Cork, Cllr Frank O’Flynn and Chief Executive of Cork County Council Valerie O’Sullivan are encouraging everyone to soak up the festive atmosphere in towns and villages across the county with several pop-up Christmas markets and special events planned over the coming weeks designed to support local businesses, jobs and communities.

Bandon Primary Students Embrace FrameWorks Art Project

Fourth Class Pupils from Presentation Primary School, Bandon are currently participating in FrameWorks, an initiative of Cork County Council’s Creative Ireland Programme, which allows primary schools across Cork to become temporary custodians of the County Art Collection.

Funding Available for the Protection of County Cork’s Heritage

Cork County Council is inviting owners and custodians to apply for funding to safeguard protected structures and archaeological monuments in County Cork. Three funding streams have been announced for 2024, including the Community Monuments Fund, the Built Heritage Investment Scheme, and the Historic Structures Fund.

Cork County Council’s LHQ Gallery is excited to present a group exhibition titled ‘Small Things Like These’ aptly named after a novel by Claire Keegan, which is set in the mid 80s and looks at the weeks leading up to Christmas capturing the busyness of the season, the family traditions, and the complicit silences of a town.
