Cork County Culture Night 2021 Seeking Proposals

Culture Night Cork County 2021 will celebrate the creativity and resilience of the Rebel County in a programme of events that aims to bring culture, art and joy back to public spaces across the county. Cork County Council are inviting artists, performers and cultural groups to submit proposals to take part in a full evening of cultural activity from 4pm to midnight on Friday 17th September.

Macroom to Embrace Al-Fresco Culture (GA)

The long-anticipated re-opening of the hospitality sector has finally arrived, and many County Cork towns have been embracing the opportunity to re-imagine town centres and adapt public spaces as unique outdoor dining experiences. Under Cork County Council’s ambitious suite of measures to stimulate local economies, Project ACT 2021, a continuation of last year’s hugely successful initiative designed to activate county towns, spaces are being transformed across the county.

New exhibition launched on 1921 Rebels held at Spike Island

A new exhibition entitled ‘Imprisoning a Nation’, which tells the story of the 1921 prisoners held on Spike Island during Ireland’s War of Independence, has been opened by Mayor of the County of Cork, Cllr Mary Linehan Foley.

Cork County Council announces Creative Producer in Residence

Cork County Council is delighted to announce the appointment of Amna Walayat as its inaugural Creative Producer in Residence. The new residency aims to enable a professional artist to creatively connect with communities in Cork County through co-created research, discussions, events, activities and virtual gatherings.

Cork County Council Announces County Cork Commemorations Grant Scheme 2021

Cork County Council has launched the County Cork Commemorations Grant Scheme for 2021, with support from the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media. This year’s scheme recognises the importance of the War of Independence and Civil War and will support the enthusiasm that exists within the county to commemorate the centenary of this defining period of Irish history.

Cork County Council Announces Funding of €136,000 for Arts Organisations and Artists (Bilingual)

81 Artists and Arts Organisations are set to receive funding totalling €136,000 from Cork County Council Arts Grants Scheme 2021. Visual Artist Tomasz Madajczak has been awarded Cork County Council’s PLATFORM 31 bursary. He is one 31 artists across Ireland awarded the €8,000 bursary to invest in their practice, participate in an advisory, developmental framework and be part of a peer network.
