New Mobile Library Trucks Hit the Road for Cork Readers

Cork County Council’s Library and Arts Service has added three new mobile libraries to its fleet serving book lovers across the county. The state-of-the-art trucks are replacing older vehicles in North, East and South Cork thanks to a €592,000 investment from the Council and will follow the replacement of the Mobile Library truck serving West Cork in 2017.

Work to Begin on Theatre and Library in Macroom

The refurbishment of the Briery Gap Theatre and Macroom Library in County Cork is set to begin this month with Cork County Council planning to deliver a new theatre and library in the heart of the town centre.

HERITAGE FUNDING AVAILABLE FOR MONUMENTS IN COUNTY CORK

The owners and custodians of archaeological monuments in County Cork are being invited to apply for funding to safeguard these structures into the future. Nationally, €5 million is available under the Community Monuments Fund 2022, which is a threefold increase since it was established two years ago.

A virtual reality initiative, developed by Cork County Council, which simulates what it is like to be a passenger in a fatal crash has won a major European award. The Council’s virtual reality ‘Your Life - Your Choice’ education programme has received gold at the Excellence in Road Safety Awards 2021 in Brussels.

Clár 2021 Innovation Measure

Cork County Council is delighted to receive funding from the Department of Rural and Community Development, under the CLÁR 2021 Scheme for Innovation Measures.  Support from this initiative will be used for the purchase of a drone to be used by Area Engineers in the West Cork Municipal District to survey inaccessible areas.

€1.95M Kanturk Link Road Completed

A new Link Road designed to provide a safe environment for cyclists and pedestrians has been officially opened in Kanturk by the Mayor of the County of Cork, Cllr. Gillian Coughlan, Minister for Public Expenditure and Reform, Michael McGrath TD and Chief Executive of Cork County Council, Tim Lucey.
