Camden Fort Meagher Opens to Visitors

Camden Fort Meagher, Crosshaven will reopen to visitors this summer season from May 28th. This will be the first time the 16th Century coastal artillery fort opens to the public in 2 years, following a temporary closure due to Covid-19 restrictions.

Council makes €3.6M Investment in North Cork Roads

Cork County Council have recently appointed Lagan Asphalt Ltd., for the Kanturk/Mallow & Fermoy Municipal Districts Road Resurfacing Contract 2022. The resurfacing contract is valued at 3.6 million euro and incorporates 25 sites extending to 23km of rural and urban road improvement works throughout the County.

Cork County Awarded nearly €400,000 for Local Heritage

Under the Community Monuments Fund 2022, operated by the National Monuments Service of the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage, four applications from Cork County were successful. These applicants include projects and undertakings in respect of Castleview Mills; Dromtarriffe Church, Coolbane Mill and Templebreedy Graveyard Crosshaven, being awarded a combined sum of €212,220.

Cork County Heroes Honoured at 2022 County Mayor’s Community Awards

Outstanding contributions made by individuals and community and voluntary groups across Cork County was showcased at the 9th Annual Mayor’s Community Awards. Mayor of the County of Cork, Cllr. Gillian Coughlan presented a total of twelve awards on the night, including a special posthumous presentation, with Noreen Minihan from West Cork winning the overall Individual award and Passage West Creates winning the overall Community Group award.

Cork Co Co Pops Live Performance Programme Returns to Cork County 

Following the success of its 2021 programme, Cork County Council’s Cork Co Co Pops series returns with over 80 live performances, supported by the Local Live Performance Programming Scheme (LLPPS) by of The Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media.

Contract Signed for €1.2 million Improvement Works for Chapel Street, Dunmanway

Cork County Council has appointed West Cork contractor Pat O’Driscoll Plant Hire and Civil Engineering Ltd. to undertake major works on the R586 Chapel Street, Dunmanway. The €1.2m programme of works will alleviate street flooding during prolonged periods of heavy rainfall and will take approximately 7 months to complete.

Centenary Exhibition in the Newly Opened Bandon Library Launched / Taispeántas Céad Bliain seolta i Leabharlann Nuaoscailte Dhroichead na Bandan

Mayor of the County of Cork, Cllr. Gillian Coughlan has launched Cork County Council’s War of Independence and Civil War Exhibition at Bandon Library. The exhibition, developed by the Council and supported by the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media, features 24 panels documenting key events and people, and is open to the public from Tuesday to Saturday, 9.30 am to 5.30 pm, until April 28th.
