Decade of Centenaries 2023 Ceremony Taking Place in Garden of Remembrance

As outlined in the national Decade of Centenaries 2023 Programme, a formal ceremony for a healing moment of reconciliation, remembering everyone who lost their lives in the Civil War, is being organised by the Department of the Taoiseach. 

The ceremony will take place at the Garden of Remembrance, Dublin on Sunday, 28th May. 

Close relatives of those directly impacted by the Civil War, have an opportunity to attend. Those interested in attending from the County of Cork are requested to email commemorations@corkcoco.ie. 

As it is anticipated that demand for attendance will greatly exceed the limited capacity for the event, emailed names will be chosen at random. If and when emailing, please indicate the Civil War person(s) that you are a direct descendant of, and note that any expressions of interest in attending, must be received by Cork County Council, at the email address stated above by 4pm on Wednesday 3rd May 2023.  For those not in a position to attend or are not selected following on from the random selection process, please note that the event will also be televised and available for widespread viewing.
