Funding Available to Protect Heritage Buildings in County Cork
Cork County Council is inviting the owners and custodians of historic and protected structures to apply for grant funding under the Historic Structure Fund (HSF) 2025, and the Historic Thatch Building Stream of the Built Heritage Investment Scheme (BHIS) 2025.
Cork County Council will administer the grant schemes on behalf of the National Built Heritage Service (NBHS).

The Historic Structure Fund assists the conservation and enhancement of historic structures and buildings. The fund awards a small number of grants ranging from €50,000 up to €200,000, with a focus on larger enhancement, refurbishment or reuse projects involving heritage structures. Projects must be advanced through the planning process as necessary.
The Historic Thatched Buildings Stream (BHIS) protects historic thatched roof buildings across Ireland. Owners or occupiers of historic thatched structures (domestic or commercial) can apply for 80% of total cost of the conservation works, up to a maximum value of €20,000.

Applications may be addressed to the ‘Historic Structure Fund 2025’ or ‘Historic Thatched Buildings 2025,’ Conservation Office, Floor 3, Planning Department, County Hall, Cork or sent by email to conservation@corkcoco.ie.
The deadline for submission of completed application forms to each scheme is 4:00pm on Friday the 17th of January 2025. Applications can be made under both schemes, but only one grant can be awarded per structure.
