€893,001 Announced for Town and Village Renewal in Cork County

Minister for Rural and Community Development, Heather Humphreys TD, has announced €893,001 in funding to support Cork County Council in the delivery of four projects under the Town and Village Renewal Scheme.  The funding will support the development of town centre Remote Working Hubs at Cobh and Mitchelstown Libraries, including Hot Desks, Offices and Meeting Facilities. In the village of Kiskeam, the Council will work in conjunction with An Post to revitalise a currently vacant property adjoining the post office into a hot desking facility for remote workers.

New State of the Art Bandon Library Officially Opened

The Mayor of the County of Cork, Cllr. Gillian Coughlan has officially opened the new state-of-the-art Bandon Library. Situated in the heart of Bandon town, the purpose-built facility is home to two 3D printers and is set to open 365 days a year.

Cork County is currently under a Met Éireann Status Red – Wind Warning for Cork which is valid until 8.00am, a Status Orange Wind Warning until 11.00am with a Status Yellow Wind and Rain warning in effect until 6.00pm today, and also a current snow and ice yellow warning in place until 10.00am tomorrow Saturday 19/02/2022.

Cork County Council preparations in advance of Storm Eunice

Met Éireann has issued a Status Red – wind warning for Cork which is valid from 3.00 am to 8.00 am on Friday.  A status Orange Warning will then come into effect until 11.00 am with a Status Yellow warning in effect until 3.00 pm on Friday.

Funding Approved for 105 Artists and Arts Organisations for 2022

Cork County Council has announced the allocation of over €140,000 in funding through its 2022 Arts Grants Scheme. Following a second difficult year for the county’s arts sector, the funding provided to 105 artists and arts organisations in this year’s scheme will help to further revitalise the county’s arts sector.
Josephine O’Driscoll, Wild Atlantic Way Manager, Fáilte Ireland, Mayor of the County of Cork, Cllr. Gillian Coughlan, Wayne Ruxton and Pat Shackleton, Youghal Medieval Festival, Rose Carroll, Cork County Council and Chief Executive of Cork County Council, Tim Lucey at the launch of the 2022 Local Festival Fund. Funding Available for Festival Organisers in County Cork

Cork County Council has announced the Local Festival Fund for 2022 is now open for applications. A total of €65,000 is available through this year’s fund and applicants can apply for amounts ranging from €500 up to a maximum of €6,000 per festival.
The first Safe School Zone for County Cork has been officially launched at Scoil Phádraig Naofa in Bandon by Mayor of the County of Cork, Cllr.
