Dé hAoine 20 Meán Fómhair, tháinig pobail ar fud Chontae Chorcaí le chéile chun freastal ar 160 imeacht a bhí á reáchtáil ina gceantair áitiúla d’Oíche Chultúir 2024. D’éirigh go hiontach leis an ócáid bhliantúil seo, agus d’fhreastail na mílte duine ó gach cearn den chontae ar na cláir áitiúla. 

On Friday 20th September, communities around Cork County came together and enjoyed 160 events happening in their areas for Culture Night 2024. The annual event was an overwhelming success, with local programmes drawing thousands of attendees from across the region. 

Communities around Cork County are gearing up for an exciting Culture Night 2024, with over 120 free events taking place in their localities on Friday 20th September. From Abba in ancient castles, to DJs beside the sea and music and dancing in the streets, this year’s programme promises to be one of the most exciting yet. 

Cork County Council’s LHQ Gallery is now accepting submissions for an open call winter exhibition. Entitled ‘Made By Hands’, the exhibition will showcase handmade works from Irish artists, designers, and craftspeople from the 22nd of November until the 23rd of December.

A new exhibition exploring the impact of plastics and reimagining how our natural world might be studied by future generations opens at Cork County Council’s LHQ Gallery next week.

From music and visual arts, to theatre, literature, and craft, Cork County is in for a treat with over 120 free events taking place for Culture Night 2024. Now in its 19th year, Culture Night Cork County, supported by the Arts Council and Cork County Council, offers a unique opportunity for communities to come together and celebrate the diverse cultural offerings in their locality.

Cork County Council has announced the return of “Healthcare Hoolies”, a series of 28 concerts taking place in Community Hospitals across the county. 

Cork County Council has announced an open call competition for a new artwork in Kinsale Library. The new library was officially opened last December and is ten times larger than the previous premises.  

Cork County Council’s Library and Arts Service annual short story anthology “From the Well” brings the reader on a journey around Ireland; from rural farms and seaside villages to city streets. The numerous tales, voices, and characters each capture a moment in time from the past to present day.

Living but a Day: Dear Readers by Cork artist and PhD researcher Chloe Austin (she/her) is an exhibition about LGBT+ and feminist archival material. The exhibition features artefacts from the archives telling stories of cross border collaborations between feminist groups and opens at Cork County Council’s LHQ Gallery on the 31st of July to coincide with Cork LGBT+ Pride festival.
