Cork County Council Severe Weather Update – Monday 6th Jan, 1.30pm

Cork County Council’s Crisis Management Team convened again this afternoon to assess road and weather conditions and to plan for the extended cold snap.

A Met Éireann Status Yellow Snow-Ice warning is now in effect in Cork until midday tomorrow.

Cork County Council Severe Weather Update – Monday 9.15am

Cork County Council’s Crisis Management Team convened this morning to assess road and weather conditions overnight. 

A Status Yellow Low Temperature/Ice warning remains in place throughout this week until 12.00 midday on Thursday, the 9th of January.

Cork County Council Status Orange Weather Warning – Update 18:00 Hours Sunday 5th January

Cork County Council is urging all road users to avoid any unnecessary journeys tonight as road conditions continue to deteriorate across the county. 

Status Orange Snow/Ice warnings remain in place until 8.00pm this evening which will be followed by Status Yellow Snow/Ice warnings until midnight. Met Éireann has issued a Status Yellow Low Temperature/Ice warning which extends all the way through the coming week until midday Thursday 9th January 2025.

Cork County Council Update in Advance of Orange Weather Warning for Cork

Cork County Council’s Severe Weather Assessment Team convened this afternoon ahead of a Met Éireann Status Orange Rain and Snow warning for Cork.  The Status Orange warning will be in effect from 5.00pm this evening until 5.00pm tomorrow Sunday, January 5th. A Status Yellow Rain and Snow warning is now in place.

New Call for Applications for the Community Recognition Fund in Cork County

Cork County Council is inviting community groups to apply for the latest round of funding under the Community Recognition Fund. The scheme supports the development of community infrastructure and facilities in recognition of the contribution being made by communities across the country in welcoming and hosting significant numbers of arrivals from Ukraine and other countries.

New exhibition ‘Timelines Growth and Catastrophe’ at LHQ Gallery

A new exhibition ‘Timelines Growth and Catastrophe’ will open at LHQ Gallery on the 10th of January. ‘Timelines Growth and Catastrophe’ is a collaborative of eight contemporary artist weavers; Tish Canniffe, Pascale De Coninck, Heather Underwood, along with Muriel Beckett, Frances Crowe, Lorna Donlon, Terry Dunne, and Catherine Ryan.

Full Midleton Youghal Greenway to Open to Cyclists and Walkers

Cork County Council has announced that the second and final phase of the Midleton Youghal Greenway will open to the public on Thursday, the 19th of December. The new section which extends from Mogeely through Killeagh to Youghal will be open from midday.
